The Senior Foundation Inc. Johnson City, previously known as the Johnson City Senior Center Foundation, is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization, established in 1983 and administered by a group of non paid volunteers who believe in giving back to our community. The Foundation Board members identify areas of seniors need and manages those resources needed to fulfill these needs. Our mission is to support the needs of individuals over 55 who reside in Washington, Sullivan, Carter and Unicoi counties.

We recognize that the number of seniors in our Area is increasing and so are their needs. Our goal is to address the needs of area seniors and to find ways to support them and allows them to live a dignified, active, meaningful and healthy life. Returning to seniors the joy of independence, the opportunity for a happy and healthy life and the respect and support they have earned.

Our approach is twofold and includes supporting seniors who utilize the area Senior Centers by either subsidizing critical programs such as the healthcare coordinator, funding transport for activities and providing support to seniors with limited financial resources. Our fellowship program provides financial support to low-income individuals that allow them to participate in activities at the area Senior Centers at a reduced cost.

Our second approach is to directly provide food, household products and personal hygiene items to low income and disabled seniors each year throughour Annual Spring Forward Food and Household Goods Distribution. This is accomplished through the efforts of a large group of volunteers who personally deliver the items to seniors’ homes and who then spend time with them. This is one of our most rewarding programs, and each year the demand and needs grows. We have been able to reach out to over 200 families the past few years and with your help we can reach out to even more.
